Since we first published this blog last winter, measles has continued to spread.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a total of 164 measles cases were reported by 9 jurisdictions as of Feb. 27, 2025. Those include Alaska, California, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York City, Rhode Island, and Texas. Texas has been hit particularly hard with 146 cases and one fatality reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services as of Feb. 28.
Additionally, there have been two confirmed measles cases in New York City, as of March 4, 2025, soon after the New York State Department of Health issued a recent health advisory and called on New Yorkers to get children vaccinated.
